Josh was already asleep. It really hadn't taken much to get him in that state. Not that Simon had minded. They'd turned on the new Cd from the Killers and did what came naturally. They'd danced. They'd kissed and somehow ended up in the shower.
But he was wide awake now. How could that be?
They'd made up. And possibly the whole process of making up had taken more time than either had imagined. But as it was everyone was asleep but him.
Simon put on his sleep pants and went to check on Leia who was hugging her teddy bear, safely tucked away in her bed.
At least Sasha had taken her out to dinner and a movie. He felt a twinge of guilt for making her feel badly. Couldn't she see he was only looking out for her? But as it was, he couldn't talk to her about it now. She was asleep too. Or so he thought until he heard the front door unlock. It was well, after midnight.
"Where have you been?" He whispered.
"Just for a walk," Sasha told him. "I needed some fresh air. To clear my head."
"Are you sure that's all it was? Were you out looking for Rhys?"
"No." She first said. "Maybe. He was down at the Dog, drinking, no less. Playing darts, actually."
"Well, that should settle it then. Is that what you want to look forward too?" Simon pushed a strand of his hair behind his ear.
"Of course not." She broke down in tears then.
Simon gave her a hug. It was the least he could do.
