wicked little town

You know, the sun is in your eyes
And hurricanes and rains
and black and cloudy skies.

You're running up and down that hill.
You turn it on and off at will.
There's nothing here to thrill
or bring you down.
And if you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
through the dark turns and noise
of this wicked little town.

Oh Lady, luck has led you here
and they're so twisted up
they'll twist you up. I fear.

the pious, hateful and devout,
you're turning tricks til you're turned out,
the wind so cold it burns,
you're burning out and blowing round.
And if you've got no other choice
you know you can follow my voice
through the dark turns and noise
of this wicked little town.

The fates are vicious and they're cruel.
You learn too late you've used two wishes
like a fool

and then you're someone you are not,
and Junction City ain't the spot,
remember Mrs. Lot
and when she turned around.
And if you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
through the dark turns and noise
of this wicked little town.

Kelsy didn't have much faith in Col capabilities with getting the dye out of her hair. She'd told him no a zillion times or so it seemed. But it came down to the fact - if she wanted that job at the school she'd have to at least look almost fitting the part. And he'd promised to wash it out. No re-dye. Just conditioning.

"I still won't get it," she'd been pessimistic because she hated interviews. And lord knows what they'd want of her. "I know I won't."

"Well, you have to try," Colin shrugged not making anymore of it. "That is if you really want it. "

"I don't even know if I want it." She felt a bit shaken up about it. Really, children to deal with. Music. Had she lost the plot completely? She'd be so far out of her element.

"Well, you have a few things going for you," Colin told her. "You haven't been arrested. If you had to be drug tested, I doubt they'd find any substances, right?"

It still made her nervous. It just wasn't her world. Not what she was comfortable with. Of course, she really wasn't quite comfortable in the one she'd clung on to so long, either. And really, she knew she wasn't actually taken this chance for herself, but for Simon. And well, a future.

"You know, if they were wise, they'd let the kiddies choose." Colin smiled.

"God, no, I'd never have a chance then." She hated the idea of that.

"Um, OK, old grannie who can't keep up with her glasses that screams at every move, or you, who will smile and make them want to know you." He suggested.

Really, her nerves were getting the best of her, but still this had to be done. It had too. Today.

I do love the breeder's version of this song. Maybe Colin isn't all bad.
