So much for crashing at Jamie's that night of the wedding. Shou wouldn't have anything to do with Jamie. Just as soon as they'd found a room Shou was ready to go.
"But why?" Ian had laughed then.
"He messes with your mind," Shou said, all serious.
"Really?" Ian still found that funny, but Shou wanted to stay in their house. He was excited then. Excited now. His head was full of visions. He wanted an amazing kitchen. He wanted their room to be shockingly dark blue.
"We'll sleep better."
"And the outside?" Ian questioned.
"Shockingly pink, of course." Shou smiled as if he would make this their home or else. Of course, it was more like camping at the moment. At least the power was on and they had a bed. He had people working on the kitchen. Marble tops, and chef appliances. Ian still couldn't quite comprehend it. Shou was really pouring money into this thing.
And they'd painted.
"What color do you see Lauren and Fletch's room?"
"They'd painted the basement room, red." Ian remembered.
"Red it is then." Shou got busy in it. They laid wooden flooring down. It was an upstairs bedroom, roomy for a bed, a love seat and a desk they could both share.
"How do you know all this stuff?" Ian asked after awhile.
"Drama major," Shou laughed. "Set and design."
So it was back to work. And Shou wouldn't have a thing to do with Jamie.
"The farther we can stay away from him, the better." Shou assured him. Ian guessed he was right. At the moment anyway, the house was the only thing on Shou's mind. He was determined to make it a home.
